Nobody planned Sömmötet. The three groups arrived at the convergence point within days of each other, from three different directions, and found the same patch of stable ground in the Seam. Earth people from the northern corridor; Spinolandet scouts sent ahead of a colony relocation; Pandor scholars who had been tracking the tear since before it was large enough to walk through. They looked at each other and built shelter, because the alternative was standing in the flickering.

The structure that resulted is improvised from all three worlds' materials and it stands for the same reason: because nothing in the Seam is strong enough yet to pull it apart. The walls are Earth-scavenged metal sheet bolted to Spinolandet chitinous frame bolted to bamboo struts. There are three fire circles inside, arranged so that no single flame dominates the space. Three sets of symbols mark the entrance, one above the other.
